Katheryn Bradley

Katheryn is a management-side lawyer who has devoted her career to resolving workplace disputes faced by private and public employers. She has successfully litigated and resolved claims for wrongful discharge, discrimination, and violations of leave and wage and hour laws in individual and class action lawsuits in both trial and appellate courts throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.

Katheryn takes great pride in helping employers avoid employment claims by preparing effective workplace policies and counseling them through reductions in force, separations, and terminations. She also advises managers and human resources professionals in organizations of all sizes on best practices to manage leave and navigate through the interactive process to accommodate employees with disabilities and religious beliefs. Katheryn also helps employers investigate workplace misconduct, harassment, and discrimination, and take effective remedial action to avoid costly lawsuits.

Katheryn is experienced in preparing executive employment agreements, effective covenants not to compete, and trade secret and intellectual property agreements. She works closely with business executives to enforce noncompetition agreements and respond to cease and desist letters. Katheryn provides interactive EEO training to managers, including anti-harassment and diversity training, and frequently speaks at employment law seminars.

Katheryn’s practice spans Alaska, Washington, and Oregon. She considers it an honor to counsel her clients as they adapt to the way people work in the Pacific Northwest. Areas of Focus

Represent employers and management in litigation: Litigate claims for wrongful discharge, discrimination, wage and hour violations, and related workplace claims.
Counseling and crisis management: Advise management on a broad range of employment issues, such as criminal background checks, fitness for duty, recruitment and hiring, discipline, misconduct, performance, workplace violence, layoffs, and voluntary and involuntary separations.
Workplace Investigations: Advise employers in a wide variety of industries on how to handle sensitive investigations into complaints of misconduct, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation, and take effective remedial action to avoid costly lawsuits.
Disability, health, and leave management: Counsel on employee health and leave issues, including compliance with workplace safety rules, leave and disability accommodation laws, and addressing alcohol, illegal drugs, and cannabis use.
Pay equity strategy and audits: Advise regarding strategies for complying with laws mandating equal pay and career opportunities to avoid claims for compensation discrimination.
Agency charges: Respond to EEOC and state and local fair employment practice agency charges alleging harassment, discrimination, and retaliation claims.
Wage and hour compliance and audits: Advise on compliance with minimum wage, overtime compensation, and paid leave statutes, and avoiding independent contractor misclassification claims, responding to government audits, and defending employer practices.
Employment agreements and restrictive covenants: Prepare executive employment agreements and effective intellectual property, trade secret, and noncompetition agreements.
Employee handbook development: Prepare employee handbooks to establish best practices and strategies for complying with federal, state and local laws and directives from the EEOC, NLRB, DOL, and other regulatory agencies.
Management training: Develop and present effective training for managers on avoiding harassment claims, investigating complaints, managing leave, and other employment laws.
