For more than 20 years, John Devlin has served as a trial advocate and advisor to clients in the banking, retail and manufacturing industries. He has tried more than 30 bench and jury trials in state and federal court, and represented clients in arbitrations governed by the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules, American Arbitration Association and in the London Court of International Arbitration. From November 2021 through April 2022, he was part of the defense trial team in the Washington Attorney General’s multi-billion dollar suit against various pharmaceutical opioid distributors. John has also assisted clients in numerous investigations and lawsuits brought by the Washington State Attorney General.

John has avidly defended clients in:

Class actions,
Civil Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) matters,
Commercial litigation,
Employment litigation,
Sarbanes-Oxley matters, and
Fair Credit Reporting Act claims.

His reputation has brought him interesting cases, including the class action defense of MGM over a box set of James Bond DVDs and a recent matter representing the NFL in a FIFA request. John is recognized by Chambers® USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, where one source shared, "John is smart, pragmatic, and great to work with."

John is a member of Lane Powell’s team representing clients on Death Row in Louisiana and Texas. He has also litigated lenders’ claims, nationwide, regarding lien interests on real property seized by the U.S. Government pursuant to the Supplemental Admiralty Rules of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

John is a West Point graduate and a former U.S. Army Airborne Ranger.
