Juan Steevens has joined Lane Powell as an Associate on the Immigration Team.
Steevens counsels clients of all sizes, from start-ups to large multinationals, on a spectrum of immigration issues. Steevens focuses his practice on U.S. immigration and nationality law, with an emphasis on business immigration. He has experience representing clients in the high-tech, life sciences, and financial services sectors, including fintech and private equity, in matters before the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, and Department of Labor.
Steevens develops strategic immigration plans to keep top-notch international talent in the U.S. He also advises clients on immigration-related issues arising from M&A activity and corporate reorganizations. His experience includes:
- E, H, I, J, L, O, P, and TN visas;
- Employment-based permanent residence, including EB-1 and National Interest Waiver petitions and PERM Labor Certification (EB-2 and EB-3);
- I-130 petitions for the relatives of U.S. citizens and residents; and
- Requests for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Deferred Action, Satisfactory Departure, Asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) classification, and immigration-related litigation.
Throughout law school, Steevens worked as an Immigration Legal Assistant, where he gained foundational knowledge in employment-based immigration law, and prepared legal briefs in support of appeals and motions before the Administrative Appeals Office.
Steevens obtained his J.D. from the New England School of Law in 2020 and his B.A. in Legal Studies & Political Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2013.
