Diane Babbitt has joined Lane Powell as a Shareholder on the Commercial Litigation Team in the Seattle office.
Babbitt is an accomplished trial attorney who focuses her practice on toxic tort and employment litigation as well as general coverage and bad faith litigation.
In March 2021, Babbitt and her partner, Brian Smith, tried the first all-Zoom asbestos trial in King County, Seattle, Washington to verdict on behalf of a product manufacturer and distributor involving claims of asbestos exposure at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington. After a 4-week trial, the jury returned a defense verdict for their client.
In her employment practice, Babbitt represents and consults with insurance companies and employers on employment and labor issues including but not limited to discipline, harassment, terminations, unions, discrimination, unemployment, employment hiring practices, non-competition agreement, and wage and hour issues.
Outside of the office, her hobbies and interests include tennis, horseback riding, hiking, and volunteering for local animal services.
Babbitt received her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and her B.A., cum laude, in Economics from Willamette University.
