Our friend and colleague, Malcolm C. Lindquist, passed away on Sunday, August 4, after losing a courageous battle with cancer.
A man of great integrity, wit and infectious humor, and generous with practical advice and mentorship, Malcolm was a wonderful colleague and attorney alike. Malcolm’s practice concentrated on commercial finance, equipment leasing and the Uniform Commercial Code. He played an essential role in developing and maintaining Lane Powell’s prestige in the banking and finance realm, serving as the leader of the firm’s Financial Institutions Industry Team for many years. In 2004, Malcolm was inducted into the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers as its first Fellow from the state of Washington. He was also an elected member of the American Law Institute and Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
Malcolm was a devoted volunteer in the Tacoma community, serving as Corporate Counsel and Project Volunteer for Rebuilding Together South Sound for nearly 20 years. He served on the Tacoma Art Museum Board of Trustees for many years and co-chaired the Tacoma Community College Wine Festival several times.
Malcolm was a selfless man, and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was someone who gave so much of himself to encourage others. To help everyone be the best versions of themselves — as professionals, as colleagues, as humans. Truly, we are all better for having known Malcolm.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Parish (732 18th Ave E, Seattle, WA 98112). A celebration of life will immediately follow at the ASUW Shell House (3655 Walla Walla Rd, Seattle, WA 98195).
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Malcolm’s name to: UW Rowing Program; ASUW Shell House Capital Campaign; Rebuilding Together South Sound; and/or Appendiceal Cancer Research at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
