On June 11, Katie Matison will be speaking at the 89th Annual Meeting of the Association of Transportation Law Professionals (ATLP) in Washington, D.C. The ATLP is an international transportation organization. Matison’s presentation concerns recent international treaties for the International Maritime Organization and is titled “IMO Developments — BWM Convention, Biofouling Guidelines, and Adoption of Climate Change Strategy for International Shipping.” The presentation concerns international efforts to reduce the environmental impact of international shipping. At least 80 percent of the world’s cargo is moved by ships.
Matison is a Past President of the ATLP, currently serves on the Board of Directors, and is Chair of the ATLP Publications Committee. Earlier this year, Matison authored an article titled “The Polar Code: a Regime Safeguarding Human Life and the Marine Ecosystems of Earth’s Frigid Zones,” that was published in Volume 84, No. 2 of the ATLP Journal of Transportation Law, Logistics, and Policy.
