Jeff Duncan Brecht and Gabi Sanchez will present at the Oregon Health Care Association’s “Lucky to be in LTC” Spring Expo on Thursday, March 1.
Brecht will present “Privacy and Data Security for LTC Employers: Cyber Threats in Your Workplace” from 10:15-11:15 a.m. The presentation will bring senior living and long term care employers up-to-date on privacy and data security risks in their communities and provide an overview of laws that impact how senior living and long term care employers evaluate and respond to workplace privacy and data security issues. Brecht will provide practical steps and best practices that senior living and long term care employers should undertake to help prevent and respond to workplace privacy and data security breaches.
Sanchez will present “The Dos and Don’ts of the Post Survey Process” from 3-4:30 p.m. Sanchez will take participants through the post-survey process and discuss best practices for managing that process to reduce risk and improve the likelihood of success during an IDR or appeal of the citation. The presentation will walk through a fictitious deficiency, discuss best practices for completing a POC, preparing for an IDR, and deciding when to appeal a citation. Sanchez will also discuss various enforcement actions that DHS and CMS (as applicable) may take, including important deadlines and actions a community/facility can take to minimize the impact of such enforcement actions.
The expo takes place March 1-2 at the Hilton Eugene in Eugene, Oregon.
