Qingqing Miao was quoted in a Seattle Times article titled “‘I’m Not Going to Put Up With It’: Washington AG Ferguson Says Lawsuit Over DACA Will Show Trump’s Bias.” The article discusses the recent lawsuit filed against the Trump administration over its decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The suit claims that President Trump violated constitutional due process and equal-protection guarantees, as well as federal laws requiring certain procedures be followed before a complex program such as DACA is dismantled.
Qingqing Miao, an immigration attorney who heads the Washington chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, said the strength of the lawsuit may also depend, in part, on what the Trump administration does next. If it starts deporting Dreamers, that will add to the due-process argument, she said.
