Lane Powell Shareholder Scott Edwards will present “Current Trends and State Initiatives: Their Impact on Sales and Use Tax Audits” at 8:30 a.m., and Lane Powell Attorney Dan Kittle will present “Discovery Issues in Tax Disputes” at 1:45 p.m. on Monday, November 10, at a Sales and Use (S&U) Tax Audits seminar. During his presentation, Edwards will discuss recent Nexus developments; the status of the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Project; the Marketplace Fairness Act and what the future holds for S&U tax audits; trust fund requirements; corporate officer liability; and successor tax liability. Kittle will discuss the privilege and work product assertion in attorney-client, and accountant-client communications; discovery requests; taking and defending tax-related depositions; the overlap of the Confidential Taxpayer Information Statute and discovery rules; public records requests; and motions to compel and motions for protective orders.
