Lane Powell Shareholder Dawn Spratley will present “How Did I Find Myself in a Reality TV Show? Tips for Estate Planners Hoping to Avoid Estate Litigation” at the Washington State Bar Association’s (WSBA) 12th Annual Trust & Estate Litigation Seminar at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22. During her presentation, Spratley will discuss how prenuptial, postnuptial and shareholder agreements, as well as foreign assets, loans and sloppy records can mess up the best laid plans; using unitrusts to solve or avoid fights between lifetime and remainder beneficiaries; how the doctrine of dependent relative revocation can thwart challengers to a will; when to use (or never use) co-fiduciaries; and the extent to which forfeiture clauses are really effective in Washington state. The seminar will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the WSBA Conference Center in downtown Seattle.
