Con-way, Inc. 20-Acre Urban Land RedevelopmentWe counsel Con-way Freight in regards to more than 20 acres of land Con-way owns in the heart of Portland, comprising one of the largest tracts of privately owned urban land in the United States. We represent Con-way in their exciting and complex land use and redevelopment efforts, with wide-ranging plans including mixed-use, office, residential and retail, and significant place-making elements, extending the Portland streetcar and creating public open space. Our work for Con-way includes negotiations with Portland (“the City”) to revise current zoning and the continued creation of a collaborative master plan, the purchase and sale of parcels of the Con-way properties, and many other public and private collaborations. In 2011, we continued its work with the City to obtain new land use regulations for the site including revisions to the city of Portland’s master plan. We also represent Con-way in the sale of three of its large properties to third-party buyers, whose development projects will occur with a collaborative approach to the overall redevelopment plan. |
